The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for controlling a high voltage direct current power transmission system. The apparatus for controlling a high voltage direct current power transmission system according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a communications unit performing communications with a controller; a control unit obtaining a data back signal received through the communications unit, checking a data error and a line wiring error based on the obtained data back signal, and outputting a valve control signal based on the data back signal; and an output unit outputting the valve control signal to a valve control apparatus based on the control of the control unit.
