PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently isolate aluminum and scandium separately from an Al-Sc alloy.SOLUTION: The method according to the present invention includes: a heating step of heating an alloy containing scandium and aluminum under a chlorine gas atmosphere at 300°C or more and 700°C or less; and, after the heating step, a scandium chloride recovery step of recovering scandium chloride from a solid phase. In this method, preferably, aluminum chloride obtained by the heating step is contacted with a hydrogen gas to generate a hydrochloric acid gas in a hydrochloric acid generation step, the hydrochloric acid is electrolyzed to generate a chlorine gas in a chlorine gas generation step, and the chlorine gas obtained by the chlorine gas generation step is included in the chlorine gas used in the heating step. Further, preferably, the method includes a scandium oxide recovery step where the scandium chloride is dissolved to obtain a scandium solution, subsequently oxalic acid is added to the scandium solution to obtain scandium oxalate, and this scandium oxalate is oxidized to recover scandium oxide. |
