发明名称 Improvements in or relating to vibration dampers
摘要 691,554. Torsional-vibration dampers. HOUDAILLE-HERSHEY CORPORATION. Dec. 12, 1950 [June 13, 1950], No. 30327/50. Class 108 (iii). In a viscous-type torsional-vibration damper having a flexible connection between the vibratory mass 32 (Fig. 2) and an inertia mass 35, a viscous damping medium is interposed between the inertia mass 35, and a housing 33 connected by spring means 31 to the mass 32, the viscous medium being in series with the spring means 31. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, the housing 33 is bolted to the end of a torsion bar 31 connected to a crank-shaft 32. The bar 31 is supported in a bearing 48, the upper part of which may be removable for access to the bar 31. Instead of a splined connection the homing 33 may be connected to the bar 31 by a flange or integral connection. In the construction shown in Fig. 3, the housing 33 is bolted to the flanged end of a tubular torsionspring 56, the other end of which is rigid with an end of a torsion bar 55. The other end is secured to a crank-shaft 52 and provides a seat for a bearing 67 for the damper end of the torsion tube 56. Relative movement of the tube 56 and bar 55 is prevented by dowels 64. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), shear stress of the flange in the bolts connection between the torsion bar 55 and the crank-shaft 52, is prevented by the provision of a spigot and by the interposition of dowels spaced alternately with the bolts. In this construction, a pair of torsion-vibration damper assemblies 50 mounted back-to-back are bolted to the torsion tube 56. In a further modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the torsion tube 55 is short compared with the length of torsion bar 55 and no bearing 67 is provided. In the construction shown in Fig. 7, a ring 123 bolted at 129 to the part to be damped, is connected to the damper 120 through a rubber annulus 122. In each of the constructions above described, the damper itself is of the form shown in Fig. 7 and comprises a housing 121 in which is contained an inertia mass 127. The space between the mass 127 and the internal surfaces of the housing is occupied by a silicone liquid. In operation, the torsional-vibration damper deals with normal vibrations, while natural-frequency vibrations occurring at one particular speed of operation, are overcome by reaction with the torsion spring which is tuned accordingly to deal with the frequency concerned. Specifications 636,881 and 638,755 are referred to.
