691.883. Verdol jacquards. SOC. DES MECANIQUES VERDOL. March 8. 1951 [March 8, 1950], No. 5681/51. Class 142(i) To prevent tearing if the paper band becomes jammed, the pattern cylinder is advanced by an intermittent worm gear 17, 16 through a torque-limiting clutch comprising spring-loaded jaws 12 embracing a wheel 14 having teeth corresponding in pitch to the pattern areas on the paper band. Accurate registation of the reading needles is ensured by a spring-loaded arm 26 carrying a roller 29 engaging a toothed wheel (not shown) rigid with the jaws 12; the toothed wheel carries a worm meshing with a worm wheel on the pattern cylinder shaft to provide adjustment of registration. Before each advance of the pattern, the roller 29 is lifted from the toothed wheel by a cam 19 acting on the arm 26. Backward rotation of the pattern cylinder can be effected by a hand-operated lever 39 carrying a pawl 33 acting on a toothed wheel (not shown) attached to the jaws 12, which then ride over the teeth of the wheel .14: backward rotation is possible only when a notch in a disc 45 is in position to receive a nose 44 linked to the lever 39, this condition occurring when the reading needles are clear of the pattern band. |
