The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising a G protein coupled receptor 119 (GPR119) ligand as an active ingredient for preventing or treating a nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. More specifically, according to the present invention, by identifying that the GPR119 ligand which had been developed only as a antidiabetic agent has an excellent effect of treating a nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and the signalling pathways of the GPR119 ligand in liver cells are different from the signalling pathways within a small intestine and a pancreas, which indicates an antidiabetic effect, the GPR119 ligand is demonstrated to be able to be advantageously used in treating a nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
