<p>A system for creating sheets of liquid food substance e.g. processed cheese is defined. The method seeks to expedite the formation of large volumes of cheese slices with a plastic backing or substrate with an overhanging lip for ease of grip. A plurality of cellophane, plastic or other suitable film webs or sheets (21, 23) are overlapped (17) and fed around a first cooling roller or belt (11, Figure 4). Hot melted cheese (10) is poured onto the sheets (A) and is pressed by the first roller (11) and a second roller (12). The cheese (10) is then cut longitudinally (B) along the overlapping edge of the sheets (25), creating individual bands or stips (13). The bands are separated (C) and cut into individual slices (4) each with an overhanging lip or tab (8) for ease of grip once stacked (7, Figure 3).</p> |
