摘要 A geothermal power generation system is disclosed. The geothermal power generation system comprises: a man-made underground mine (1); an air inlet (2) located at the surface of the earth where air enters the air inlet (2) at an ambient temperature; a subterranean cavern (6) is located beneath the surface of the earth in the underground mine (1), at least one heat exchanger (8) is located in the subterranean cavern where the subterranean cavern (6) has a naturally occurring geothermal temperature; a first mine shaft defines a flow path for fluidly connecting the air inlet to the at least one heat exchanger (8) in the subterranean cavern (6) where the air entering the air inlet passes through the at least one heat exchanger (8) and is heated substantially to the geothermal temperature; and a second mine shaft for fluidly connecting the air passing through the at least one heat exchanger (8) and an exhaust outlet at the surface of the earth; the ambient temperature is substantially cooler than the geothermal temperature and a fluid flow is induced between the air entering the air inlet (2) at the cooler ambient temperature and the air passing through the at least one heat exchanger (8) is heated to the geothermal temperature and the second mine shaft to an exhaust outlet (4) at the surface of the earth. A power plant is located in the flow path between the air inlet and the exhaust outlet that is powered by the induced fluid flow. The system further includes a subterranean source of water (40). A first fluid passageway (66) connects the source of water (40) to a hot rock formation (64) located beneath the mine where the water is converted to steam, and, a second fluid passageway (68) directs the steam to one or more steam turbine generators (56) located above the hot rock formation (64).
