Substituted 6-amino-nicotinamides as kcnq2/3 modulators

Provided are substituted 6-amino-nicotinamide compounds of the general formula (I), wherein the variables are as defined in the specification. Examples of the compounds include N-[(3,5-Difluoro-phenyl)-methyl]-2-ethylsulfanyl-4-methyl-6-morpholin-4-ylpyridine-3-carboxylic acid amide and N-(4,4-Dimethyl-pentyl)-4-methyl-6-morpholin-4-yl-2-tetrahydro-pyran-4-ylpyridine-3-carboxylic acid amide. The compounds are modulators of voltage gated potassium (K+) channels KCNQ2/3 (Kv7.2/7.3). The compounds may be useful in the treatment of pain and neurological disorders.
