PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing material preventing reduction of sealing property of a sealing layer formed by calcination and generation of air bubbles when sealing a light emitter between two substrates by the sealing material, and a sealing method of substrate by using the sealing material, and a sealed body.SOLUTION: There is provided a sealing material 3a containing a glass frit 7 and an organic binder 8 and used for forming a sealing material layer 3 bonded to a substrate 2 by calcination by irradiation of electromagnetic wave and having the remaining amount of the organic binder 8 at a grass transition temperature of the glass frit 7 of less than 50%. There is also provided a sealing material containing the glass frit 7 containing total 100 mass% or less by mixing 70 to 90 mass% of BiO, 1 to 20 mass% of ZnO and 2 to 12 mass% of BO.
