PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which, in manufacturing a sandwich-structural composite having a shock attenuation property, blockage of open cells along abutting edges of open cell core panels detracts from the shock attenuation property of the blocked cells.SOLUTION: A sandwich-structural composite is assembled from a front sheet and a back sheet. The front sheet and the back sheet have first and second open cell core panels sandwiched between the sheets. The first and second open cell core panels are spliced along intermeshing edges of the panels such that projections from the panels engage slots penetrating into the panels. There is no adhesive substance employed between the intermeshing edges of the two core panels. The joining and splicing of the intermeshing core panel edges retains structural and acoustic capability of the composite without the need for adhesives (e.g., film, foaming agents, paste, and potting compounds) between the intermeshing edges of the core panels.
|
