The present invention relates to a composition which contains the lyophilized powder of kimchi and is used for the prevention and treatment of hypertension and renal diseases. According to the present invention, the composition including the lyophilized powder of kimchi can lower the blood pressure, the concentration of protein in the urine, and the blood lipid level. The present invention does not cause high blood pressure and maintains the normal shape of the glomeruli. The composition shows excellent effects of preventing and treating the hypertension and renal diseases.
