<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can remove attachments attached to the surface of an image carrier.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 includes: an image forming unit 40 that supplies a toner including abrasive particles 130 to a rotating intermediate transfer belt 421; a belt cleaning device 426 that removes, of the toner having been supplied to the image forming unit 40, the toner remaining on the surface of the intermediate transfer belt 421; and a polishing unit that is provided on the downstream side of the belt cleaning device 426 in the direction of rotation of the intermediate transfer belt 421 to collect the abrasive particles 130 that have not been removed by the belt cleaning device 426 and bring the abrasive particles 130 into rubbing contact with the intermediate transfer belt 421.</p> |
