An inverter (10) is described for converting DC output from a generator (11) into grid-compatible AC output, in particular as part of a power generation network (140), said inverter comprising a scanning unit (14) for delineating at least a part of a characteristic curve (20) of the generator (11) for determining an MPP output value (PMPP). The inverter (10) only triggers a delineation of the characteristic curve (20) upon provision of a first output profile (24', 25', 108) that deviates from the reduced output (Pred) if, in the case of a reduction to a reduced output (Pred), a release signal (15) is applied at the inverter (10). A start and an end of the delineation are indicated by the output of a start signal (16) and an end signal respectively. Upon receiving a start signal (116), for example from a further inverter of the power generation network, a second output profile (118) is provided as an AC power, wherein the first output profile (24', 25', 108) has a deviation from the reduced output (Pred) with a sign that is opposite to a sign of a deviation of the second output profile (118) from the reduced output (Pred). At least two inverters are connected to each other in a power generation network (140) for exchanging the release signal (15), the start signal (16) and the end signal. A corresponding method for operating the inverter (10) is likewise described. |
