PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem of a switch that twice a normal current flows therethrough to possibly cause failure when the rated current is exceeded, and to prevent such a situation that when the switch fails, the first failure spread from switch to switch, even if no abnormality is detected before failure of the switch in a current converter, and the corresponding phase terminal becomes unusable.SOLUTION: An electric drive system includes an electric machine to the winding of which power is supplied via solid switches X1, Y1, X2, Y2 under control of a programmable controller. At least two switches X1 and Y1 operate in parallel, to provide a current required for exciting the machine. A device and a method in which a controller monitors current distribution of the switch, and can adjust the output of a drive system in the case of malfunction are disclosed. |
