PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring device capable of discriminating specific possible causes of the onset of cardiac failure.SOLUTION: A monitoring device comprises: a first sensor 2 for measuring a carbon dioxide concentration in breathing; a second sensor 3 for measuring oxygen transport or a metabolic system parameter; and a state discrimination part 6 for discriminating any state of a heart, a lung, and a blood vessel on the basis of the measurement result of the carbon dioxide concentration measured by using the first sensor 2 and that of the oxygen transport or the metabolic system parameter measured by using the second sensor 3.
