The invention relates to a device (DA) which is intended for supporting the head and/or the neck of a person sitting in a seat, which comprises a part (PP), provided with two inner recesses (LI1-LI2) which securely receive two guides (G1-G2) in which two rods (T1-T2) slide, said rods being substantially parallel and rigidly connected to an upper portion of the backrest. One of the rods comprises notches intended for engaging with a locking member (OV) coupled with one of the guides (G1-G2). The part (PP) is made of a material which is slightly deformable so as to withstand positioning dispersions relative to the rods (T1-T2) and capable of absorbing energy in the event of a crash, and comprises an inner portion (PI) provided with an additional recess (LA) communicating with the inner recesses (LI1-LI2) and with the outside and receiving the locking member (OV) in a position that allows same to be actuated on a side surface (FL1).
