This invention addresses the problem of providing a contact or contactless switch and device. In order to solve said problem, a switch that has the following is provided: a macromolecular actuator element; a support mechanism that supports said macromolecular actuator element such that said macromolecular actuator element can deform; a voltage-applying means that applies, to the macromolecular actuator element, a voltage that can produce a deformation response therein; at least one position-detecting means that detects when the macromolecular actuator is in a specific deformation position due to the application of the aforementioned voltage; and a controlling means that turns the switch on or off. The position-detecting means sends a signal to the controlling means upon detecting that the actuator element is in a specific position, and said controlling means turns the switch on or off.
