A method of lining a metal oil well pipe (20) in situ, by providing a pipe liner (10) composed of a polymer tube (11) having a fabric or mesh reinforcing layer (12) mechanically bonded to its exterior, inserting the pipe liner (10) into the oil well pipe (20) by adding water or other weighting members into the pipe liner (10), and opening the pipe liner (10) to allow oil to flow therethrough, thereby expanding the pipe liner (10) tightly against the oil well pipe (20).
