PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output a halftone processing result that is satisfactory even for a slant line image by appropriately correcting screen processing (systematic dithering) in accordance with a simple method.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus outputs screen image data by applying screen processing to input image data for each pixel and outputs a low frequency component of a difference between a pixel in the input image data and a pixel in the screen image data for each pixel. In accordance with an output result, either an input pixel value forming the input image data or a screen pixel value forming the screen image data is selected for each pixel, intermediate data are outputted and a slant line region including pixels indicating a slant line in the intermediate data is corrected.
