The device described herein is an apparatus for assessing movement, pain, and the temporal relationship between the two for an individual user. The device can be worn on a region of the body (e.g. the lower back, shoulder, or elbow), and captures movement data using an array of inertial measurement units and a novel algorithm described herein. Additionally, the device has the ability to detect manual input from the user, intended as a means for the user to communicate when their pain has been aggravated or alleviated.
|
