Provided is a hot rolled steel sheet that serves as a stock for a cold rolled steel sheet and that requires little rolling load when supplied for cold rolling. The hot rolled steel sheet has a component composition including 0.010-0.040% of C, at most 0.05% of Si, 0.10-0.35% of Mn, at most 0.03% of P, at most 0.015% of S, 0.01-0.10% of Al, and at most 0.0050% of N, with the remainder comprising Fe and unavoidable impurities. The hot rolled steel sheet has a configuration in which the average ferrite particle diameter exceeds 13μm, and the standard deviation of the natural logarithm values of the ferrite particle diameters is at least 0.40. |
