摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device which suppresses occurrence of color unevenness when using light sources having different characteristics, and a liquid crystal display device.SOLUTION: A surface light source device 200 includes a laser light source 8, an LED light source 7, a laser light diffusion member 6 and a surface light emitting light guide plate 4. The laser light source 8 has a laser light emitting element for emitting a laser beam L8. The LED light source 7 has a plurality of LED elements 71 for emitting an LED beam L7. The laser light diffusion member 6 diffuses and reflects the laser beam L8 emitted from the laser light source 8 at a light diffusion part 62, and spreads a light divergence angle of the laser beam L8 to the divergence angle equal to that of the LED beam L7. The surface light emitting light guide plate 4 has a light incident surface 41c for allowing the beam to enter, allows the laser beam L8 and the LED beam L7 to enter from the light incident surface 41c and converts them to planar light. The optical distance A from a diffusion reflection surface 62a of the light diffusion part 62 to a light incident surface 41a is equal to the optical distance A from a light emitting surface 72 of the LED elements 71 to the light incident surface 41a.
