Provided are: a near-infrared absorbing composition which provides a cured film that has high transmittance in the visible light region and exhibits high shielding performance in the near-infrared region; a near-infrared blocking filter; a method for producing the near-infrared blocking filter; a camera module; and a method for manufacturing the camera module. This near-infrared absorbing composition contains a copper complex that is obtained by having a copper component react with a compound (A) that has a coordination site which is to be coordinated by means of an anion and a coordinating atom which is to be coordinated by means of an unshared electron pair.
