[Problem] To provide a functional air filter with which ample functionality to minimize the proliferation of mold and germs may be maintained for extended periods, which is highly hygienic and safe, and which has deodorizing capability. [Solution] The functional air filter is obtained from weft yarn and woof yarn comprising thermoplastic core-sheath type composite monofilaments of composite fibers having a core and a sheath material of a resin having a lower melting point than the core, by thermally fusing the sheath material together at the yarn intersections, the filter being characterized in that the composite monofilaments are designed such that a portion of particles incorporated into the sheath material are exposed on the surfaces of the sheath material. The particles are preferably mixed particles having fine particles anchored to the surfaces of coarser particles. |
