Embodiments of the present invention relate to the field of communications. Disclosed are a method, an apparatus and a system for controlling route optimization, which can implement control of a route optimization channel of distributed mobility management. A specific scheme comprises: a first apparatus obtaining first route control information, the first apparatus being a home location manager (HLM) of an MN or a home mobile router (HMR) of the MN, and the first route control information being used for instructing to remove an RO channel; and the first apparatus sending the first route control information to a CMR the MN is attached to or a CMR a CN is attached to, so that the CMR the MN is attached to or the CMR the CN is attached to removes the RO channel. The present invention is used for controlling a route optimization channel of distributed mobility management.
