The present invention relates to formulations based on lipoic acid or its analogs. 1,2-Dithiolan-3-pentanoic acid (generally known as lipoic or thioctic acid), is an active principle with antioxidant activity which is used for the treatment of some diseases, including liver and biliary diseases, polyneuropathies, diabetic polyneuropathies, viral infections, hypercholesterolemia, dyslipidemia, renal diseases, Alzheimer's disease, tumor pathologies, etc. This compound promotes metabolism and is used as support in some pharmacological treatments or therapies, as for instance in chemotherapy or in patients subjected to cycles of hemodialysis, or in patients undergoing detoxifying treatment (detoxication). The present invention is aimed at using a pellet for preparing a medicament useful for the treatment of pathological conditions responsive to lipoic acid treatment and also using these pellets as a nutritional (foodstuff) supplement and for preparing the same. The present invention describes the lipoic acid pellets composed of inert cores coated with lipoic acid (active cores) and further coated with a first polymeric coat with insulating function and then with a second polymeric coat and also different embodiments of preparation and formulation thereof. The invention is also aimed at formulations (compositions) used as foodstuffs. The lipoic acid pellets can be used in food industry as nutritional supplements as additives for a certain foodstuff, for example, the foodstuff having an acid pH. |
