Provided is a method for weighing laundry inside a basket-type washing machine, such as an industrial washing machine, according to which the weight of the empty basket of the washing machine is determined, the laundry is loaded in the basket, the laundry is distributed in the basket by rotating the basket with a first angular rotation speed (ω), the basket is rotated up with a second angular speed (ω), which is higher than its first angular rotation speed (ω), such that the laundry is distributed stable and substantially balanced over the basket inner surface to form laundry flywheel with a constant moment of inertia, a third (ω) and a fourth (ω) angular rotation speeds of the basket are set, each having the meaning between the first (ω) and the second (ω) angular rotation speeds of the basket, wherein the fourth angular speed (ω) is higher than the third angular speed (ω), the basket is rotated with the third angular speed (ω) and further with the fourth angular speed (ω), energy absorbed by the motor drive for moving the basket during angular acceleration of the basket from (ω) to (ω) is measured and by the measured fraction of the energy the weight of the loaded basket is determined and the weight of the laundry inside the washing machine is determined as the difference between the weight of the loaded basket and the weight of the empty basket. |
