The disclosure relates to an efficient multicasting method and system applying direct wireless connections between user devices. The telecommunications network is enabled to select the optimal modulation and coding scheme for a group of user devices enabled to transmit multicast data over the direct wireless connection in accordance with the best channel quality reported by a user device.
