A piston top (10) for an internal combustion heat engine, comprises an upper face (11) intended to be turned towards a cylinder head (12) provided in the top part of a combustion chamber (13) delimited in the lower part of same by said piston top (10), said upper face (11) comprising a cavity (14). Said cavity (14) has a shape such that, at any point in the depth (H) of the cavity (14), the cavity (14) has, in a cutting plane (P) perpendicular to the sliding direction (D) of the piston (15) provided with said piston top (10) relative to the engine cylinder, a section having a contour that is non-circular in shape.
