A processing apparatus is described which comprises a processing chamber (12), a microwave transmission device (14) operable to transmit microwaves into the processing chamber (12), a conveyor arrangement (16) operable to convey materials to be processed into and through the processing chamber (12), and a scraper serving to clean at least part of the internal wall (12a) of the processing chamber (12) to limit a build up of materials thereon.
