PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device having a phosphor layer, which had high reliability and less color unevenness and high luminance; and provide a manufacturing method of the light emitting device.SOLUTION: A light emitting device 1 according to one embodiment comprises: a plurality of light emitting elements 11 mounted on a substrate 10 in a face-down manner; a transparent board 21; a phosphor-containing film 22 provided on an undersurface of the transparent board 21; and a low melting point glass layer 23 provided on the under surface of the transparent board 21 so as to cover an undersurface and side face of the phosphor-containing film 22. The light emitting device includes: a plurality of structures 20 provided on respective one of the plurality of light emitting elements 11 in a manner such that an undersurface of the low melting point glass layer 23 touches top faces of the plurality of light emitting elements 11; and a white reflective material 12 which covers side faces 11s of the plurality of light emitting elements 11 and a side face of the low melting point glass layer 23, in which at least a part of a region immediately above each gap 11g between the plurality of light emitting elements 11 is not covered with the phosphor-containing film 22. |
