Class 39(ii) A tubular electric incandescent lamp, more particularly of the type used as indicator lamps on telephone switchboards, is provided with a carbon filament 6 that is looped adjacent to the outer end of the bulb and supported out of contact with the bulb by a disc 7 of'mica or other insulating material disposed substantially at right-angles to the axis of the bulb, the disc being provided with either apertures or nicked edge portions through which the legs of the filament or the leading-in wires thereto are passed. As shown, a mica disc 7 is mounted on a metal-rod or wire 8 that is sealed into a glass bead 5 within which the leading-in wires 3, 4 are sealed. In a modification employing a shorter tubular bulb the mica disc is seated upon the glass bead and the leading-in wires, which are sealed within the latter, are splayed outwardly to pass through holes in the disc. |
