A long luminance detection method and device, the method comprising: an optical line terminal (OLT) configures a short time slot and issues the upstream optical signals of each passive optical network (PON) interface via an optical module; the OLT controls the optical module and conducts first signal detection (SD) sampling detection on the upstream optical signals according to the short time slot to obtain a first detection result; the OLT determines, according to the first detection result, whether the upstream optical signals are valid; if yes, then the OLT configures a long time slot and issues the optical signals via the optical module, and controls the optical module and conducts second SD sampling detection on the upstream optical signals according to the long time slot and obtains a second detection result; and the OLT determines, according to the second detection result, whether the current PON interface is experiencing long luminance. The present invention realizes quick and accurate detection without occupying fixed bandwidth, thus maximizing the utilization of the upstream bandwidth. |
