A block segmenting method and optimum prediction mode determination method and related device in video coding. The block segmenting method in video coding comprises: determining a set of allowable block segmenting depth of a current block; determining whether to perform sub-block segmenting on the current block at the current segmenting depth according to the set of allowable block segmenting depth, facilitating reduction of the computation complexity in determining the block segmenting method of a current block during video coding.
