<p>The invention relates to a continuous metallothermic process using the powder metallurgy and to an installation for elaboration of relatively pure metals or alloys thereof from metal oxides or reducers thereof. According to the invention, the process consists in preparing the starting materials and feeding them to the storing bunkers, batching them and feeding them to the mixer (6) where the metallothermic mixture is formed and wherefrom it is conveyed by a worm feeder (5) towards the reaction module where the metallothermic mixture, either wet or dry, is supplied to a crucible (1) in the same amount as the aluminothermic mixture which is consumed during the specific oxidation-reduction reaction, at temperatures ranging between 1800...3500°C, the metallothermic mixture comprising 50...80% metal oxides, 10...40% reductants and 40%, at the most, moderators and/or fusing agents and alloying materials. The installation, as claimed by the invention, consists of a module comprising the subassemblies (10, 10.1, 11 and 11.1) wherein metal oxides, aluminium powder, alloying elements and moderators/fusing agents are stored, the bunkers (8 and 8.1) wherein the processed thermite components are stored, the bunkers (9 and 9.1) wherein the ground graphite and moderators/fusing agents are stored, the thermite preparation module comprising the batchers (7), the mixer (6) which mixes the materials and prepares the tehrmites, the last module being the reaction module which comprises the crucible (1), the steel discharge system (2), the self-releasing plug (3), the corundum discharge system (4), the steel exploiting system (12) and the reaction gas purifying system (14).</p> |
