<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an approaching vehicle detection system capable of accurately detecting another vehicle hidden behind an obstacle.SOLUTION: Front optical devices 2A each having a light emission part 21 and a light reception part 22 of infrared rays are respectively mounted on the front parts of a first vehicle VE1 and a second vehicle VE2. When the vehicles VE1 and VE2 approach each other within a maximum communication distance Dc, the front optical devices 2A communicate between the vehicles VE1 and VE2 to exchange information. The vehicles VE1 and VE2 detect the approach of the other vehicles VE2 and VE1 on the basis of information received from the other vehicles VE2 and VE1. A reflection mirror 4 is disposed at each corner of an intersection CR for reflecting a signal to be transmitted and received between the vehicles VE1 and VE2, and for changing the traveling direction.</p> |
