1. An apparatus for transmitting data onto a channel broadcasting a program, comprising:
a processor; and a computer-readable medium storing a plurality of instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations, the operations comprising:
selecting the channel that is being used to broadcast the program;generating the data having characteristics in accordance with an error burst signature, wherein the data is independent of the program and is encoded with a header portion for allowing a receiver to identify the data and to decode the data during an error burst detection; andtransmitting the data on the channel that is being used to broadcast the program, wherein the data resembles an error burst. |
