The present invention relates to solid oral pharmaceutical composition comprising metformin and linagliptin or salts thereof. In particular, the present invention relates to solid oral stable pharmaceutical composition comprising fixed dose combination of metformin and linagliptin or salts thereof. By using an alkalizer or amino sugar, it is possible to achieve the stable pharmaceutical composition of metformin and linagliptin or salts thereof. The invention further relates to use of such composition in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. A method for the preparation of such composition is also described.
