Then, the main tank 202 is brought into the atmosphere open state through an exhaust path 206 (exhaust port 206a) in a step S23. In this state, the main tank 202 communicates with a liquid discharge path 262 through an ink circulation path 208 and an on-off valve V5. Outer air is introduced from the exhaust path 206 to the main tank 202 by the suction force of a circulation pump 212, and the air having passed through the main tank 202 is exhausted outside through the ink circulation path 208 and the liquid discharge path 262.
