<p>The detergent compositions described in Specification 696,031 are mixed with a water-insoluble, inert, substantially white or colourless, non-toxic inorganic filler having a bulk density of from 0.8 to 1.2 in a proportion of 60 to 300 per cent by weight of the synthetic detergent. The compositions so formed are dry, free-running powders. Suitable fillers are light magnesium carbonate, Fullers earth and bentonite. In an example cresylic acid is condensed with commercial dodecylene ("cotrimer") and the product further condensed with ethylene oxide to give a polyglycol ether having an average chain length of 14.2 oxyethylene groups, and 3.5 parts by weight of this ether are mixed with 4.0 parts of anhydrous tetrasodium pyrophosphate, 3.0 parts of disodium dihydrogen phosphate, 1.5 parts of bentonite, and 0.8 parts of light magnesium carbonate.</p> |
