<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a built-up linear motor which suppresses its width dimension. <P>SOLUTION: A housing 2 of a linear motor comprises: a first member 21 and a second member 22 extending in an axial direction of a coil array 3 and sandwiching the coil array; and a pair of end members 23 and 24 connected to both axial end parts of the first member 21 and the second member 22 and through which a magnet shaft 1 penetrates.
