A device and method for conditioning an aqueous liquid, e.g. drinking water, includes at least one outlet for the conditioned liquid; at least one inlet (1) for receiving a flow of liquid to be treated; and at least first, second and third liquid treatment sections (3,4,5), arranged in parallel in flow sense, each containing a liquid treatment medium including at least one ion exchange material. The device is arranged to create at least three sub-flows of liquid from a first flow of liquid to be treated by distributing the first flow over the first, second and third liquid treatment sections (3,4,5). The device is arranged to obtain at least a bypass flow of liquid, to conduct the bypass flow through the device so as to bypass each of the first, second and third liquid treatment sections (3,4,5) and to unite the bypass flow with the at least three sub-flows upstream of the at least one outlet. Use of the described device to condition drinking water, including using the conditioned drinking water to produce a beverage by extraction, for example coffee. |
