<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing p-iodophenol that produces p-iodophenol effectively. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes a reaction of phenol with aqueous solution of iodine monochloride. In the reaction, 0.5-1.5 mole of the iodine monochloride in the aqueous iodine monochloride solution is preferable to 1 mole of the phenol for suppressing production of the by-product other than the object. A water immiscible organic solvent may be preferably used because the by-product other than the object can be extracted by the organic solvent. One of 6-10C aliphatic hydrocarbons, 4-6C aliphatic acetates, 4-8C aliphatic ethers is preferred as the organic solvent. The p-iodophenol may be preferably isolated by cooling the reaction liquid after the end of the reaction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
