[Class 55 (i)] Steam generating means for the steam-air mixture supplied to a gas producer utilises the heat in the out-flowing gases which pass by an inlet 11 through a jacket 10 enclosing a water vessel 13 to an outlet 12, steam from the water mixing with air preheated by passage through a cowl 15, the air and steam passing into a duct 16 to one end 18 of which is connected a pipe for delivering the air and steam to the gas producer. The water level in the vessel 13 is maintained by a tank 25 to which water is fed through an inlet 28, excess water overflowing through pipe 29. The height of the overflow is regulated by a sleeve 32 supported by a bracket 33 which may be hung from one of two steps 30, 31. Water from the tank passes by a pipe 26 into the vessel 13. When the water level is raised some of the water runs out through holes 34 down the outer hot sides of the gas chamber 10 and is converted into steam. Surplus water is collected in a gallery 35 and supplies more steam to the incoming air, unvaporized water being discharged through an outlet 36 which may be connected to a clinker discharge apparatus as .described in Specification 547,343.</p> |
