The present invention relates to an adipocyte differentiation promoting composition containing hydroxymethyl pyranone derivatives as active ingredients. According to the present invention, the composition can promote the adipocyte differentiation to enable the adipocytes in a skin layer to be differentiated to enhance the volume and elasticity of the skin. The composition can also be utilized as a cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition in various fields including the skin damage treatment.
