<p>The purpose of the present invention is to make the data transfer rate in a RAID including a plurality of ODDs which use an optical disk having multiple recording layers, substantially constant. One half of the ODDs start recording from the L0 layer while the other half of the ODDs start recording from the L1 layer among the recording layers of an optical disk, and more data blocks are assigned to the ODDs for recording on the outer periphery side of the optical disk than the ODDs for recording on the inner periphery side of the optical disk. By changing the number of data blocks assigned to each ODD with the progression of recording, the data transfer rate is made to be substantially constant. The number of occurrences of seek operations is reduced by making use of the characteristics of the interlayer opposite recording in a multilayered optical disk, whereby a decrease in the transfer rate is prevented.</p> |
