摘要 <p>The present invention relates to a second shutdown drive mechanism for a reactor for research. The present invention provides a bottom-mounted second shutdown drive mechanism for a reactor for research which can overcome those issues such as the core′s being hidden and restriction on accessibility from the top of a water tank to the inside and the outside of the core, which have been recognized as issues of the conventional top-mounted second shutdown drive mechanism, can improve the space usability around the core, and can simplify maintenance of the second shutdown drive mechanism. The bottom-mounted second shutdown drive mechanism for a reactor for research of the present invention comprises: a second shutdown rod for stopping the core; an extended rod assembly penetrating the bottom wall of a water tank to be connected to the second shutdown rod inside the core; a piston unit connected to the extended rod assembly; a water power cylinder assembly placed in a reactivity control apparatus room under the bottom wall of the water tank for providing the driving force for raising the second shutdown rod connected to the extended rod assembly with water power during normal operation and for lowering connecting structures connected to the second shutdown rod altogether with loss of water power during abnormal operation; and a penetrating unit assembly installed in the bottom wall of the water tank for sealing, penetrating, and guiding the extended rod assembly.</p>
