The present invention relates to a device and method for determining the object display format in an electronic device. The object display format determination method used in the electronic device includes: a process of sensing a hovering input made by a hovering input device; a process of sensing a key input from the hovering input device upon sensing the hovering input; and a process of determining the display format for the objects on a display unit based on the key input sensed from the hovering input device. The object display format determination method can be implemented through various embodiments of the present invention.
