<p>The invention relates to a self-locking differential for a road vehicle, consisting of a housing (1) containing at least one planet-carrier shaft (11), two sun gears (6) connected to the planet-carrier shaft (11) via a set of planetary gears (7), a central element for holding the sun gears (8) against the latter, and at least one series of friction discs (15, 16) for transferring friction torque to one of the wheels connected to the differential in response to an axial thrust of the sun gear opposite same, characterised in that it comprises a disc-holding ring gear (5) including a force-compensating device capable of keeping the series of discs open while the difference between the torque values at the outputs of the differential does not exceed the torque generated by the internal friction of the mechanism.</p> |
