<p>A gripping device that comprises a body defining a passage 14 through which an elongate article 16 extends. A gripping arrangement 28 is mounted on the body and includes a gripping surface 34 that is movable in a first direction to a gripping position to clamp the elongate article 16 against a wall 38 of the passage 14, and in a second direction to a release position. The gripping arrangement may include a pivot portion 36 that moves about pivot 30 and a spring 42 that provides a bias towards the gripping position. Preferably, a lever 40 can be pressed to move the pivot portion 36 to a release position. The device further includes a holding arrangement for holding an elongate securing member 20 which has stop members 26 at each end that can pass through a wide end 52 of a channel 50 but are held at a narrow end 54.</p> |
